First Purchasable Roadable Aircraft a.k.a. Flying Car
When I first read the news about the latest flying car developments in February 2009, I was definitely excited. I love driving. I love flying (not that I fly a plane though). So what better way to combine both than to have a flying car!
There’s the Parajet Skycar from Parajet Paramotors, the M400 Skycar volantor from Moller International, and the Transition from Terrafugia.
On March 5th, 2009 the Terrafugia Transition achieved first flight at Plattsburgh International Airport off New York’s I-87, just one hour south of Montreal, Quebec.
Now, you can actually buy your very own Terrafugia Transition Roadable Aircraft, which could go into production next year (2010). The anticipated purchase price is US$194,000 with a US$10,000 airframe refundable deposit. I surely don’t have that money to spend, but just the idea that it is possible to get one soon, makes me happy about it.
A Light Sport Aircraft pilot license will be needed to drive/fly this dual-purpose vehicle. You can become a Sport Pilot in as little as 20 hours of flight time in their specific training course.
Who knows? Maybe someday I will buy one myself.

Using Social Media
Social media has been existing for quite some time now. It is very much different from the old school media that a lot of us have known before this “social media” existed. The media that we are familiar with, which is also known as industrial media, traditional media, broadcast media, or mass media, still continues to exist along with this new media. Newspapers, television, and film are still used to keep the community informed of the world around us. But along with this, using social media is very much important as this has also a lot more benefits than the traditional ones.
Well, what is social media? In my own understanding, social media is a means of communication using highly accessible technologies typically done through the internet and mobile communications. This can take different forms including blogs, vlogs, email, instant messaging, music-sharing, picture-sharing, and video-sharing. YouTube, Wikipedia, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, and MySpace are some examples of the most popular social media being used. In the Philippines, where I grew up before coming to Canada, the most popular social media being used there are Friendster and Multiply.
Social networking isn’t the only purpose of using social media. With this, you can find out the information you need to know through more accessible means. Businesses also use them for marketing or for customer relationship management. If you have information that you want to get out to a broader audience, social media is definitely one way that can help you on that.
Let’s focus on the blog for example. With a blog, not only are you able to use text to get your message out, you can also use images, audio, and video. You can also make it interactive with the addition of an online forum or through a chat room on your blog or website. With a regular printed newspaper, can you do all of that? No. But with an online newspaper, you sure can.
Personally, I use social media to connect with my friends, to keep updated about their lives (since we can no longer do that in person since we’re in different continents), to complement my job search, and of course to learn more things everyday. There are just so many more ways that social media is useful to the world today. I’m simply thankful that such a thing exists.
Hey, It’s Me!
Hello world! This is Anna Isabel Saldivar and this is my first post for this blog.
I’ve actually been writing for quite awhile. I have another blog, but it mostly contained stuff about my personal life. So, I decided to create a new one where I can talk more about my passion for technology, and less about random stuff in my life. In other words, this will be my so-called “professional” blog. But of course, it wouldn’t hurt to include some random interesting stuff from my life once in awhile.
When I was just a young kid, I already loved writing. I even remember that there was this one time that I entered a short story contest sponsored by a major national newspaper. I think what I wrote was a fictional story about a girl and a flying unicorn. (Haha! Isn’t that cute?) I didn’t win though, but it was a very memorable experience for me. Writing will always be a part of me.
Topics that I have in mind right now which I will definitely be blogging about will include social media, the web, gadgets, hardware, and just about anything else that involves technology.
Why Tech-Life in Pink? Well firstly, my favourite colour is pink. Pink also represents being a lady. I am a lady and I will be talking mostly about technology and how it affects me and my life, so that is how I came up with that.
